Training Double Olympic gold medallist Victoria Pendleton

This Summer Bay Fitness had the privilege of training Olympic gold medallist and nine time world champion track cyclist at Yeotown in North Devon.

After an early morning yoga session and a hike across the panoramic Devon hills the session focused on core to strengthen and protect. A strong core and good pelvic mobility can improve posture and protect your back in exercise and in the rest of your life.

The session started with a pulse raiser around the lake to oxygenate the muscles then looked at mobilising the lumbar spine and dynamically stretching the key muscle groups which work as synergists to the abdominals in core exercises. Then followed a variety of different exercises using body weight and equipment to offer different challenges to the body, and work both deep and superficial muscles of the core.

Victoria was a lovely lady and seemed to very much enjoy the session and the whole Yeotown experience. She especially fell in love with surfing at Lyndon Wake Surf School in Croyde.
